British Airways hand luggage rules

  • Cabin bag dimensions are stated 'including wheels and handles'.
  • British Airways no longer publishes a weight limit for either hand baggage item on its Baggage essentials page - both weight_kg values recorded as null rather than guessed.
  • The rule stated instead is that you must be able to lift your cabin bag into the overhead locker unassisted.
  • The same allowance applies across all cabin classes and to infants holding a ticket.
  • Maximum permitted length of any item carried in the cabin is 56cm (22in).

Liquids

At most UK airports each liquid must be in its own container of no more than 100ml (3.4oz), all in a single transparent re-sealable plastic bag up to 20 x 20cm with total capacity of about 1 litre; at Heathrow and Gatwick new screening technology allows containers up to 2 litres without the bag.

Remember that the liquids rule that applies to you is set by the airport you fly from, not the airline. Check your departure airport before you pack.
