Liquids, aerosols and gels must be in containers of 100 ml or less inside one transparent resealable bag of a litre or less, and that bag is shown separately at the checkpoint. Electronic and metallic items, laptops included, go in their own tray.

What this means at Hong Kong International Airport
- Airport states: all LAGs should be in containers no larger than 100 ml and packed in a transparent resealable plastic bag with a capacity of 1 litre or less; only one bag per passenger.
- Airport states: electronic and metallic items in your hand baggage or on your person should be placed in a separate tray for security check.
- Hong Kong's Civil Aviation Department confirms the bag has to be presented separately from other cabin baggage for visual examination at the screening point (https://www.cad.gov.hk/english/packing_tips.html).
- Exemptions may be made for medications, baby milk/food and special dietary requirements, subject to verification.
- Spare lithium batteries and power banks must not go in checked baggage.
- Importing e-cigarettes, heated tobacco products and other alternative smoking products into Hong Kong is prohibited; the ban does not apply to a person arriving at Hong Kong International Airport in transit without passing through immigration control.
