Milan Malpensa Airport liquids and security rules
Flying from Milan? Here is what Milan Malpensa Airport states about liquids and electronics in hand luggage.
Check your terminal
At Malpensa the rule depends on the terminal: Terminal 1 allows individual containers of up to 2 litres and you do not separate them from your hand baggage, while Terminal 2 still applies the 100 ml limit with liquids in a transparent bag taken out of your luggage. Check which terminal your flight leaves from before packing.
| Liquid container limit | Check your terminal |
| Clear plastic bag needed | Not stated |
| Liquids can stay in your bag | Not stated |
| Laptops can stay in your bag | Not stated |
What this means at Milan Malpensa Airport
- Set to null because the airport's own page gives two different answers depending on terminal, not because the page is unclear.
- Terminal 1 (Smart Security lanes): "individual containers with a maximum capacity of 2 litres, without the need to separate them from hand luggage".
- Terminal 2: "transport of liquids, aerosols, and gels is allowed in individual containers not exceeding 100 millilitres", "placed inside transparent plastic bags and separated from hand luggage".
- So for Terminal 1: limit 2000 ml, no bag, liquids and devices stay in the bag. For Terminal 2: limit 100 ml, transparent bag required, liquids taken out.
- SEA describes Smart Security as machines "that allow passengers to avoid taking out liquids and electronic devices", in place at Milan Linate and Malpensa Terminal 1.
- The baggage-rules page does not give separate wording on medicines, baby food or duty free.
