Zurich Airport liquids and security rules
Flying from Zurich? Here is what Zurich Airport states about liquids and electronics in hand luggage.
Up to 2 litres
If you start your journey in Zurich you may now carry liquid containers of up to 2 litres and no transparent bag is needed. If you are connecting through Zurich from another airport the old rule still applies: 100 ml containers in a resealable 1-litre bag.
| Liquid container limit | Up to 2 litres |
| Clear plastic bag needed | No |
| Liquids can stay in your bag | Not stated |
| Laptops can stay in your bag | Not stated |
What this means at Zurich Airport
- Airport's own wording for departing passengers: "Liquid containers with a capacity of up to 2 litres are permitted in hand luggage."
- Transfer passengers: "Liquids are only permitted in hand baggage in containers of max. 100 ml. Pack these into a resealable 1-litre plastic bag while at home."
- liquids_in_bag_allowed and laptops_in_bag_allowed set to null: the airport's security-check page does not state whether liquids or electronic devices may stay inside the bag at the checkpoint, so this could not be confirmed.
- "You may also take larger quantities of liquid medication, baby food and special foods that you require for the journey in your hand baggage."
- "Double-walled containers (thermos) must be empty."
- The page gives no date for the 2-litre allowance and no duty-free or terminal-specific wording.
