Air India hand luggage rules

  • Economy and Premium Economy: 7 kg (15 lb), max 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, with total dimensions not exceeding 115 cm.
  • Business and First Class: 10 kg (22 lb), same 55 x 40 x 20 cm size limit.
  • Passengers may carry only one piece of hand baggage, in compliance with Indian security regulations.
  • One additional personal item is permitted, max 3 kg (6 lb) and max 40 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm - a handbag, laptop bag, camera, overcoat or umbrella. If its total dimensions exceed 90 cm combined, it counts towards the cabin baggage allowance.
  • Infants: up to 5 kg total for personal and infant items such as food, bottles and a tote.
  • Collapsible wheelchairs, crutches and walking sticks are permitted in addition.
  • A small amount of duty free is allowed if it fits the requirements.
  • Air India publishes cm as the primary figure with pounds alongside the kg (7 kg = 15 lb, 10 kg = 22 lb).
  • Air India states that dimensions and weight include wheels and handles as part of the bag.

Liquids

Liquids, aerosols and gels are limited to 100 ml per container in cabin baggage, carried in a clear, transparent one-litre plastic bag. Medicines and baby food are exempt.
