LaGuardia Airport liquids and security rules

Flying from New York? Here is what LaGuardia Airport states about liquids and electronics in hand luggage.

100 ml limit

LaGuardia follows the national TSA 3-1-1 rule: containers of 3.4 oz / 100 ml or less, all inside a single quart-sized clear resealable bag. Expect to take the bag and your laptop out of your carry-on at the checkpoint unless you are using a TSA PreCheck lane.

What this means at LaGuardia Airport

  • LaGuardia's own website publishes no liquid limit. Its FAQ simply says: 'You should check the TSA's packing guidelines to see which items are permitted in carry-on and checked bags' (https://www.laguardiaairport.com/frequently-asked-questions).
  • TSA PreCheck lanes let you keep shoes, belts, light jackets, laptops and 3-1-1 liquids in the bag; standard lanes do not.
  • Neither LGA nor TSA states whether liquids may remain in the bag in standard lanes, and TSA publishes no blanket CT-scanner exemption. Follow checkpoint signage.
  • Connections that require changing terminals at LGA mean re-clearing security, so repack liquids accordingly (airport FAQ).
  • TSA Cares assists passengers with disabilities or medical conditions through screening; LGA's FAQ points travellers to it.
  • From 1 February 2026, passengers without a REAL ID or passport may pay a $45 fee to use TSA ConfirmID (LGA FAQ).
  • Medication, breast milk, formula and baby food are exempt from the 3.4 oz limit in reasonable quantities and need not go in the zip-top bag; declare them.
  • CT-scanner status at individual LGA checkpoints is not published by the airport or TSA.
