What this means at Miami International Airport

• MIA's own wording: 'The Liquids Rule restricts carry-on containers to 3.4 ounces or less, carried in a 1 quart-size bag.' The page also notes water bottles are prohibited through the checkpoint.
• MIA advises: 'Remove your laptop from its travel case so a thorough x-ray can be done.' Electronics may receive additional screening.
• MIA has computed-tomography (CT) scanners. The airport's newsroom reported CT scanners at six TSA checkpoints from 20 August 2020, stating 'Passengers traveling through a lane with a CT scanner will now be permitted to leave laptops and other electronic devices in their carry-on bags': https://news.miami-airport.com/fly-through-security-atwith-new-screening-technology/
• A newer Analogic eXpress CT checkpoint opened at TSA Checkpoint 2, Concourse D, on 1 November 2025; that announcement does not say what may stay in the bag: https://news.miami-airport.com/mia-rolls-out-the-latest-in-checkpoint-screening-technology/
• laptops_in_bag_allowed is recorded as null because MIA's security page and its CT announcements give conflicting instructions - the security page says remove the laptop, the CT announcements say laptops may stay in CT lanes. Follow the signage at your lane.
• MIA's 2019 CT announcement said keeping 3-1-1 liquids in the bag was a future goal, not a current allowance, and no later MIA or TSA source confirms it has been granted.
• TSA PreCheck is available during checkpoint hours; the security page gives no further PreCheck detail.
• The page does not address medications, baby food or duty free; the national TSA exemptions apply.
