What this means at Narita International Airport
- Airport states: all liquids in containers with a capacity exceeding 100 ml (g) are prohibited from being brought onto the aircraft.
- The transparent resealable bag must hold no more than 1 litre and be within 20 cm by 20 cm; each passenger may carry only one.
- Liquor, cosmetics and other liquids bought at duty-free shops after departure procedures may be taken on board regardless of the limit.
- Duty-free liquids over 100 ml carried onward must be in a security tamper-evident bag (STEB).
- Baby milk and baby food are exempt from the liquid restriction; hot water for formula is available after confirmation at screening.
- Tell the screener if you have a medical certificate or prescription for your medicine; medicines are exempt but only in the quantity needed for the flight.
- Narita does not publish whether the liquids bag or laptops must be removed at the checkpoint, so we show both as 'Not stated'.
- Japan bans medicines containing pseudoephedrine (for example Sudafed) and codeine; larger quantities of other prescription medicines need a Yakkan Shoumei import certificate.
